Tarkuni Private House

Tarkuni is one of only three accommodations within the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, the largest private reserve in South Africa. You’ll have the entire house to yourself throughout your stay, as well as a private guide, tracker and 4×4 vehicle to take you out on safari whenever you choose.

The Tarkuni homestead has room for ten guests across five spacious suites, each with its own private bathroom and outdoor terrace. This makes it a fantastic option for a family safari trip. Your group will also have free use of two shared lounges, a dining area and a spa treatment room. And outside you’ll find a plunge pool, peaceful tsala, and a fire pit with waterhole views so you can look out for local Kalahari wildlife with a drink in hand.

All meals will be prepared by your chef. You can dine inside or enjoy a barbecue under the stars at your private boma. And there’s a snack pantry, plenty of coffee and tea, and a well-stocked wine cellar on site.

Tswalu is home to an amazing variety of animals, including giraffes, cheetahs, desert black rhinos, zebras and springboks. As well as day and night game drives, you can saddle up for a horse riding safari or head out on foot to go birdwatching or see ancient rock engravings. Your expert guides will help you track elusive species like pangolins and bat-eared foxes, or you could go on a photography safari to learn how to capture the wildlife you spot on camera.
