A turquoise sea laps gently at pristine white-sand coast which lies encircled by a coral reef and dotted with giant granite boulders. Slopes draped in rainforest protect a plethora of rare and often unique plant and animal species. Floating idyllically 20km northwest of Mahé in the Seychelles, Silhoutte is undeniably a natural island paradise.
This beautiful island is the third largest of the archipelago and features five high mountain peaks, bestowing on it some of the most dramatic scenery of the island group. Many enjoyable hours can be spent exploring scenic mountain trails, but don’t neglect the rest of the island: legend has it that the corsair Jean-François Hodoul buried his treasure here on Silhouette Island.
Silhoutte is one of the richest biodiversity hot-spots in the whole of the western Indian Ocean. Here you’ll find rare endemic animals and plants and an abundance of birdlife. 93 percent of the island’s landmass has been protected as National Park and its surrounding waters are designated as a Marine National Park, making it ideal for snorkelling, diving and fishing.
