Mount Gahinga Lodge

Seated in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, Mount Gahinga is a spacious lodge with an impressive backdrop of Mgahinga’s three volcanoes themselves.

The eight stone and thatch bandas incorporate traditional designs and building techniques of the local Bufimbira people. Spend your evenings listening to the crackle of the flames in your bandas’ fireplace, or sit out on your private porch as the wildlife hidden in the surrounding landscape fills the night air with their chatter.

As well as gorilla trekking in the national park, you can also spot rare Golden Monkeys in the forest, hike a dramatic volcano, enjoy a complimentary massage or learn about the local Batwa community, with whom the lodge has partnered with to offer interactive tours.

Uganda is also one of the best locations for bird-watching experiences: venture out with a local expert and try and spot the African pygmy-goose, the fulvous whistling duck or the great blue turaco among many others.
