Itinerary in detail
Every trip is shaped around you. Below is a sample route to start from; we change any part of it to suit you.
Days 1-4
The best of Kota Kinabalu in three days
Your luxury trip starts with three days in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysian Borneo’s Sabah state. Spend your days unwinding at the pristine beaches, venture to the offshore islands and dive into the depths to discover a mesmerising underwater world teeming with marine life. Or opt for a tranquil boat ride along the coastline for breathtaking vistas. Finally, immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of local towns, where lively markets offer a glimpse into the heart of Sabah.

Where you could stay
Days 5-8
Days in Sandakan
Spend the next few days taking in the natural wonders of Sandakan. Journey into the lush rainforest to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe these incredible creatures up close as they roam freely in their natural habitat. Then venture deep into the heart of Borneo’s wildlife paradise with a cruise along the Kinabatangan River.

Where you could stay

Kinabatangan Community Project
Experience the heart of Borneo’s rainforest through a unique overland journey with KOPEL, a community-driven initiative dedicated to its preservation. You’ll travel from Sukau to the heart of Batu Puteh village, where you’ll meet your local guides and take a boat ride to a tree-planting site in the Lower Kinabatangan. Together with your local guide you’ll plant native trees and enjoy a meal at Riverside Cafe while learning more about KOPEL’s mission to protect the forest. They work to restore habitats for endangered species like orangutans, pygmy elephants and proboscis monkeys, and create a sustainable future for the community.
Not only does your participation result in the planting of these trees, but it also takes care of the crucial three-year maintenance period the young trees need to be able to survive independently. Some of your donation fees help to pay the salaries of those in the community cooperative and empowers locals to be stewards of their land.
Days 9-10
Two days exploring the Danum Valley
Spend two days with an English speaking guide exploring the remote Danum Valley, home to the rare Sumatran rhinoceros, elephants, clouded leopards, Orangutans and over 275 species of birds. During your stay you will enjoy a nature presentation, canopy treetop walks, dips in waterfall pools and tubing through the valley.

Where you could stay
Day 11
Overnight in Kuala Lumpur
Explore the bustling metropolis of Kuala Lumpur, a potent blend of the old and new. For your time here, our Concierges will recommend and arrange privately guided excursions, and restaurant reservations to see the best the city has to offer.

Where you could stay

Serendah Indigenous Exploration
Spend time in Kampung Serendah on an experience created with the local community. You’ll walk forest trails on ancestral land with multi-generational Temuan guides and learn about their history and culture. Taste delicious dishes made using ingredients sourced from the surrounding jungle. And create your own souvenir using traditional weaving techniques that transform forest materials into art.
Days 12-14
Days in Langkawi
Spend leisurely days lounging on Langkawi’s sun-kissed beaches, take a dip in the crystalline waters and soak up the island’s tranquil ambiance under swaying palm trees.

Where you could stay
Sunset dinner cruise

Step aboard a luxurious yacht and cruise along the stunning coast of Langkawi, where you can soak in the breathtaking sunset views.

“Happy Borneo”
From the minute Joyce got our email, she was efficient, contacted us to see if there were any special requirements ( which there were due to disability), and organised everything we needed. We thought we wouldn’t be able to do some of the excursions, but everything was planned to perfection. I can only highly recommend Joyce and Jacada Travel, and…
