Mykonos might be one of the smallest islands in the Cyclades complex but it makes up for it in character. Its reputation as a glamorous party destination has stuck since the 1950s, and while it’s true people here know how to have a good time, the island itself is also incredibly beautiful, its beaches and secluded corners offering refuge to those who seek a Mykonos luxury vacation.

With its cubic white houses laced with colourful bougainvillea, red domes and church bell towers, Mykonos is a picture-perfect Greek haven. The capital Hóra is a hive of activity, its cafes and restaurants full of people soaking up the sunshine. When to visit

If you’re heading to Greece for its postcard-perfect beaches, look to travel between June and September. These months bring the sunniest weather and the warmest temperatures, both on land and in the water. July and August are the most popular months to visit, so choosing to travel at either side of this time can mean beaches are less busy. Avoid travelling during the winter months (from late October to April) as much of the island closes down during the colder weather.
