Spice Village

Modelled on the homes the region’s Manan tribe traditionally construct, this tribal village is set in a fragrant spice garden in the highlands of Periyar in Thekkady. Local artisans and materials were pivotal in the design and construction of Spice Village, as well as celebrating the cultural and traditional wisdom of the region. The village offers you all the comforts of a city, minus the noise and pollution. Delicious fruits, vegetables and spices come from the property’s own organic gardens offering you a unique, spice-enriched menu to dip into during your stay. You’ll also spot Malabar flying squirrels who visit the property often. Discover even more in an educational walk with one of the local naturalists, and learn more about the 140 species of plants native to this part of India. If you’re wanting to lay low for a while, visit the Tiger Club where you can chat with the team of naturalists, or browse through the extensive library with over 385 books, 40 wildlife documentaries and four national periodicals.
