Itinerary in detail

Every trip is shaped around you. Below is a sample route to start from; we change any part of it to suit you.

Days 1-3

Two nights in capital Bogotá

Your adventure starts in the capital, Bogota. The city is often people’s first taste of Colombia and while it is a useful springboard for exploring the rest of the country, it is also a great place in its own right. It’s big and it’s busy but it is packed with cool restaurants and brilliant galleries and museums. Be sure to stroll around the pretty La Candelaria district, filled with colourful buildings and home to the historic Plaza de Bolívar, with the Palace of Justice and the Cathedral of Bogotá.

A visit to Paloquemao market and cooking class

Spend the morning in the vibrant food market with your host chef, carefully selecting your fresh, local ingredients – a complete feast for the senses. Following the market, you will head to a closed-door restaurant and turn the Colombian produce into some of the most deliciously creative dishes in your private cooking class with top chef. Enjoy good company, great music and of course, superb food.

Days 4-6

Three nights in the UNESCO Coffee Triangle

Spend your days kayaking, hiking, horse riding and cycling, taking in the lush, tranquil and typically pastoral surrounds of Colombia’s UNESCO protected Coffee Triangle. The landscape is one of vibrant rolling hills from which enormous wax palm trees soar towards the sky, but scattered across this blanket of green are also charming towns, such as Salento whose streets are lined with colourful houses.

Hacienda Bambusa: Bamboo rafting down La Vieja River

The ‘balsaje’ is a favourite activity enjoyed by locals, where friends and family relax on a bamboo raft that floats down La Vieja River. Guests of Hacienda Bambusa can hop on your own bamboo raft as you make your way downstream and enjoy the stunning scenery surrounding the river. Make a stop on the way at a shaded beach where your host will prepare a delicious picnic.

Days 7-9

Three nights in Colombia’s charming coastal city

Colombia’s coastal city of Cartagena is steeped in history and diverse culture; it boasts impressive ramparts, forts and bastions as well as plenty of Spanish-style architecture. This is a city made for exploring: wind your way through the historic centre passing carts laden with juicy fruit and vendors selling coconut candies under the shade of the arches that ring the plazas. There are also fortifications to explore, museums to discover and rooftops from where you can watch the world go by.

A tour of Cartegena's nautical history

Set off on an expedition throug Cartagena’s historic sites in search of hidden treats and treasures. Throughout this adventure, the whole family can learn about Cartagena’s fascinating history of Spanish colonisers and pirates, while recounting the stories of iconic fortresses, plazas and colonial mansions found along the way.

Days 10-11

Two nights in the heart of the Tayrona Region

Tayrona National Park is one of the prettiest stretches of coastline in Latin America, where lush tropical rainforest meets golden sandy beaches and the blue waters of the Caribbean. It makes for a perfect combination of relaxation and exploration in an area which is home to more than 100 species of mammal, 200 species of bird and many reptiles. Time here is for relaxing and enjoying the picturesque views, scuba diving, snorkelling and exploring the nature of the park.

Take a private transfer to the Don Diego river. After a 15 minute trek up a lush mountain, you will arrive at the river bank from where you will float down a crystalline river all the way down to the ocean. Keep your eyes peeled for exotic birds, howler monkeys and small caymans which are harmless and very shy.

“Colombia 2024: Beautiful, Stress Free Trip”

I spent 9 days traveling solo in Colombia, specifically Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena. The trip was planned so thoughtfully and thoroughly, and they took into consideration all of my feedback and interests. From hotels to restaurants, to tours, everything exceeded my expectations. Lily and Berni were great to work with, and always available to discuss the details of the trip,…
