Ice-strengthened Vessel Visiting the Most Remote Locations

Converted from a oceanographic research vessel and completely rebuilt in 2009, the Plancius provides both a functional and comfortable experience of the Antarctic ocean, with its ice-strengthened hull enabling it to manoeuvre through pack ice to reach the most remote locations in Antarctica.

Accommodation is in the form of 53 passenger cabins, each with en-suite facilities, and the vessel holds a number of communal spaces including a library, observation deck and lounge, to relax between expeditions.

Cruises aboard the Plancius span the Polar Circle. Journey to the Antarctic Peninsula and witness the moulting Gentoo Penguins, fly to an Emperor Penguin rookery on Snow Hill Island via helicopter or tour the freezing waters in search of unique Antarctic flora and fauna including Peninsula Fin Whales, Humpback Whales, Fur Seals and a variety of penguins and seabirds.
Polar diving is also one of the more unique activities available for the highly adventurous.

Departures are from June – September and October – May.
