Luxury Rainforest Safaris made for you

Track gorillas, spot rare birds and explore ancient rainforests with expert local guides

Gorilla treks, birdwatching and canopy walks on your luxury rainforest safari

The world’s rainforests provide biodiverse habitats for an extraordinary array of wildlife, and our luxury tours combine meaningful, expert-led experiences with stays at exclusive lodges.

In the Congo, stay at Ngaga Lodge, a centre for primate research. You can head out with experts to look for resident families of western lowland gorillas. Go on a luxury wildlife safari in Borneo to observe orangutans and track clouded leopards. And in Brazil’s Amazon, the rainforest harbours up to 1,500 species of birds.

Australia’s Daintree is the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. On a private trek with Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat guides, you’ll learn about its biodiversity and deep cultural significance. Look out for endangered, flightless cassowaries, saltwater crocodiles and smaller creatures hidden among the trees and across the forest floor.

Our tours in Costa Rica’s rainforests combine family-friendly wildlife experiences with more adventurous expeditions into the wilderness. Take a private canopy tour in the cloud forests of the Central Valley, or follow treetop walkways with views of Arenal Volcano. In remote Corcovado National Park, on the Osa Peninsula, your naturalist guide will lead you to the best places to see anteaters, monkeys and endemic birds like yellow-billed cotingas.

Our travel designers are adept at curating itineraries, drawing on first-hand knowledge and on-the-ground expertise. They’ll select stays at some of our favourite exclusive lodges and pair them with immersive wildlife experiences in some of the world’s best rainforest safari destinations. A word from one of our experts

When you stay at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, I’d recommend heading out for a canopy walk early in the morning, when the rainforest comes to life with the calls of gibbons and hornbills moving through the treetops. It's so peaceful.

When to plan a luxury rainforest safari

The best time for a rainforest safari depends on the destination and the wildlife you want to see. During the dry months, forest trails tend to be less muddy, making walks and wildlife tracking more comfortable. Rainy seasons bring vibrant green landscapes and can coincide with seasonal wildlife activity. In Borneo, May to September is a great time for orangutan viewing. In the Congo, gorilla trekking is possible year-round, with lower rainfall usually from January to February and June to September. Costa Rica’s wildlife viewing is possible year-round. Monkeys, sloths and toucans are among the species you may spot. The green season, from May to November, is a great time to observe nesting sea turtles in places such as Tortuguero and the Osa Peninsula. For any rainforest safari, we recommend planning well in advanced, particularly for destinations where gorilla or other specialist wildlife permits are required.
