Itinerary in detail

Every trip is shaped around you. Below is a sample route to start from; we change any part of it to suit you.

Days 1-2

Arriving in Arusha

Your trip begins with a restful overnight stay in or just outside Arusha. From this city, sometimes known as Africa’s safari capital, your trip unfolds.

Days 3-4

On safari in the Ngorongoro Crater

The largest intact volcanic caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater holds some of Africa’s most dramatic scenery. The magnificent geography and fertile soils lure huge herds of plains game and predators in what makes for a multi-coloured and thrilling amphitheater of wildlife. The Big Five are all present here and you can spot zebras grazing along the plains, lions lazing in the tall grass and leopards in the trees of the crater rims.

You’ll also have time to visit Lake Manyara National Park, part of the Maasai ecosystem lying at the base of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. Here, lush grasslands, swamp and woodland surround a large soda lake. Home to blue monkeys, baboons, tree-climbing lions, buffalos, elephant, giraffes and hippos, the park is also a bird-watcher’s paradise with 350 species of birds (including flamingos).

Days 5-7

Three days in the North Serengeti

You’ll spend your days exploring the northern section of the Serengeti mostly on safari, tracking the great array of game and wildlife that this vast area offers. If you’re there at the right time for the great migration (depending on the season), this is the region where the herds are at their most concentrated. As the North Serengeti forms the border with the famous Maasai Mara of Kenya, it’s where (if you’re lucky) you’ll see the infamous river crossings. It’s also an area of untamed natural beauty, of rolling hills, rivers, forests and open plains.

Days 8-11

Exploring Nyerere National Park

A UNESCO-protected haven of game, Nyerere National Park is the largest in Eastern Africa, well known for its large pack of wild dogs, big game, migrating elephants, river safaris and tiger fishing.

Five nights on Pemba Island

Pemba, Zanzibar’s more undiscovered sister, remains pleasingly unspoilt with an abundance of greenery, fertile lands for growing cloves and diving sites rich with corals and marine life.

Just 50 kilometres north of Zanzibar itself and one of the three ‘Spice Islands’, Pemba is considered to have more of an island profile than its siblings with lush rolling hills covered in dense forests, creeks coursing through steep green valleys, mangrove-knotted shores and beautiful flour-white beaches.

“Safari-Beach Adventure in Tanzania”

Jacada (and Jacob in particular) did a fantastic job on our trip to Tanzania. It was the trip of a lifetime -- safari followed by several relaxing days in Zanzibar. Thanks for all the great recommendations. I give them 5* because we had one small hiccup on our trip - and the went out of their way to make it…
