Head to Elements for international dishes à la carte, or Atelier for an elegant dinner with an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs work their magic. There’s also a sushi restaurant and a gorgeous bar with panoramic views.

It’s well worth venturing out from the hotel to explore the city of Beppu, which has more than 2,000 hot springs. In addition to the traditional onsen experience, you can also enjoy sand baths, mud baths and steam baths. Make sure to try jigoku mushi: a local cooking method that uses thermal steam to prepare everything from seafood to sweets.
