Danang is central Vietnam‘s largest city, an important port sat at the half way point between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
Though the city itself may lack the atmosphere of its larger compatriots, it is well located between the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Hoi An to the south and Hue to the north. The ancient temples of My Son are also nearby, as are the Marble Mountains and the fascinating Buddhist sanctuaries within them. Due to the port’s important strategic position, Danang also has a fascinating military history for those that are interested.
The Son Tra Peninsula and coastline north of the city towards the famous Hai Van pass offer some of Vietnam’s most dramatic seascapes, with an abundance of secluded beaches and a handful of hidden luxury resorts.
