Churchill's War Rooms

Your private guide will take you on an immersive journey to the heart of Britain’s wartime strategy – Churchill’s War Rooms. You’ll witness the rooms where monumental decisions were made, as your private guide paints a vivid picture of life within this extraordinary bunker, and offers a glimpse into the daily realities faced by the men and women who worked here during London’s darkest hours. Explore the labyrinth of rooms and corridors, hearing riveting stories about Winston Churchill and the crucial decisions made within these walls that shaped the course of history.

Days 5-9

Get to know God's own country

Set among the rolling hills of northern England, Yorkshire’s abundant natural beauty has earned it the nickname ‘God’s own country’, and you’ll have the chance to see it for yourself over the next few days. The historic city of York will be your base – explore its ancient walls, the magnificent York Minster, and the medieval charm of The Shambles. From here, journey outwards to discover the charms of the Yorkshire Dales, tempting local gastronomy, and a glimpse at peaceful rural life.

York ghost walk

One of the more unusual aspects of York’s illustrious history is its affiliation with ghosts, and ghost walks have become a popular way to immerse yourself in the city’s supernatural side. Meet your local guide as dusk settles over the lamp-lit streets, and the quiet atmosphere becomes thick with anticipation for the evening ahead. They’ll regale you with stories of haunted pubs, ghostly Roman soldiers said to march beneath the city’s ancient walls, and the infamous story at the landmark of Clifford’s Tower, as you feel the centuries of history that linger just beneath the surface.

Days 10-13

The lovely Lake District

Beloved by writers such as William and Dorothy Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, the Lake District and its tranquil landscapes are home to some of England’s most renowned beauty spots. While exploring on foot is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in these hills, you can also board a paddle steamer to traverse the shimmering lakes, or find a peaceful spot to sit and drink in the views.
