SUJÁN The Serai

Set within Rural Rajasthan on a vast private desert estate an hour from the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer, The Serai harks back to the grand royal caravans of the Rajput era, a luxurious oasis of calm amid the dunes.

There are 21 spacious canvas tents sat on raised honey coloured sandstone plinths with a terrace lounge, masses of natural light and stylish interiors. Six of the tents have their own private walled garden and plunge pool, while the Royal Tented Suite has its own spa, an outdoor pool and separate tents to dine and lounge in.

The Serai is perfectly placed for day trips into Jaisalmer, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with fine historic architecture dating to its time as an important waypoint for traders’ caravans travelling to Persia, Egypt, Africa and the west. You can also explore the desert on traditional camel safaris, visit lesser known temples and take trips into local villages to learn all about life in this extreme environment.

After a day exploring, rejuvenate at the spa or in the serene pool before and evenings spent under the vast expanse of the desert sky, punctuated by the stars, embers from the fire and a sumptuous dinner. Meals comprise of local delicacies as well as delicious western dishes made with fresh home-grown organic ingredients. You can choose to dine at the dining tent or anywhere on site with tailor–made experiences to suit your particular desire or mood.
