Luxury Santiago Tours made for you
Chile
The beating heart of Chile
Chile’s cosmopolitan hub, Santiago, sits in the centre of the country, between the arid north and mountainous south. The skyline of this sprawling metropolis provides a stark contrast to the towering Andes that loom majestically on its eastern horizon.
Home to over 40% of the Chilean population, it’s abuzz with activity, and over the past decade has transformed itself from a necessary stopover to a cultural nucleus, pulsing with creativity. Art galleries and elegant restaurants in the historic centre flow into trendy wine bars and energetic nightlife in Barrio Bellavista. Take in every inch of the city from the viewpoint atop Cerro San Cristóbal before browsing the antique shops of Barrio Italia.
Its central location remains key to exploration – from here it’s easy to unlock other unmissable destinations on your journey, from the vineyards of Colchagua or Maipo Valleys, to the unmistakable peaks of Torres del Paine in Patagonia.

When to visit
While Santiago has a temperate climate all year round, the best time to go depends on what you want to do during your stay. For the region’s famed ski slopes, the best time to visit are the winter months of June – August, when the snow is at its best. For the central wine regions which surrounds Santiago, the autumnal months of March and April are the best. You’ll have the opportunity to tour the vineyards during harvest, and attend some of the wine festivals which are hosted during this time. As with all mountainous and high altitude regions, expect a drastic temperature change between day and night – be prepared and pack some extra layers for the evening. Average day time temperatures range from 16°C (60°F) in June and July, to 29°C (84°F) in December and January.
