Luxury Travel to the Colombian Amazon made for you
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Colombian Amazon on a private tour
Step into the heart of the jungle on a memorable Colombian Amazon tour
It may cover around one third of the entire country, but the Colombian Amazon is one of its best kept secrets. This is an area that promises a deeply grounding off-grid experience. On a luxury Colombian Amazon tour with Jacada, our expert guides and handpicked lodges and excursions will ensure a truly immersive and authentic trip.
Inaccessible by road, the gateway to the rainforest is the town of Leticia, just a two-hour flight from Bogotá. At the southernmost tip of Colombia, on the border with Peru and Brazil, the city is an eclectic mix of cultures, including a strong Indigenous influence. One of the main communities here is the Tikuna. At their invitation, journey into the jungle with a Tikuna guide to learn more about how they are sustained by the river and rainforest.
Here, the mighty Amazon snakes its way through dense, green jungle which teems with life. Deer and puma stalk through the forest, sloths and monkeys climb from tree to tree, and hundreds of species of birds rise up through the canopy. Head out with your private local guide on a birdwatching tour to spot vividly coloured species such as the purple-breasted cotinga or blue-crowned trogon. On a guided night walk, you can see how the jungle comes alive after dark.
Beyond hiking, one of the best ways to explore the area is by river cruise. Navigate the vast network of waterways, home to pink dolphins and dotted with Victoria Regia water lilies. Let Jacada help you discover the wonders of the Colombian Amazon with a diverse rainforest tour made just you. Speak to our expert travel designers to start planning your trip.

When to visit the Colombian Amazon
The best time to visit the Colombian Amazon depends on what you’d like to do there. For exploring on foot, and fewer mosquitos, the dry season, which runs from July to December, is the best time to go. This is also the best time for wildlife spotting, as animals concentrate around the remaining water sources. However, if you want to navigate waterways deep into the jungle by boat, then you should consider travelling during the wet season (January to June). Higher water levels allow you to push deep into the flooded forests, where you can see a vivid array of greenery and birdlife. There are also fewer mosquitos during this time. The climate is hot and humid all year round, with daytime temperatures hovering between 25°C–30°C (77°F–86°F) during the rainy season, and climbing slightly higher during the dry season.
