Etosha National Park

Luxury Etosha National Park Safaris Vacations & Tours made for you

Lunar salt pans, savannah plains and enthralling safari scenes

Shimmering landscapes where thousands of animals converge around water sources

A remnant of an ancient lake, Etosha’s most distinguishing feature is the enormous, silvery salt pan that it encompasses, stretching endlessly towards the horizon. Nicknamed the ‘Place of Mirages’, the extraordinary terrain is a photographer’s delight, especially when a pride of lions, herds of blue wildebeests or desert elephants appear through the haze to stand against this stark backdrop.

The Etosha Pan may take up almost a quarter of the national park’s land, but the park itself is home to a diverse spectrum of landscapes – mopane trees give way to open savannah, which gradually transforms into rolling hills as you travel west across the park.

On the drier landscapes, typical of the country’s climate, wildlife gathers around the limited, spring–fed water sources which results in incredible wildlife viewing for Namibia safaris.

In contrast to Etosha’s arid landscapes, the exclusive Onguma and Ongava reserves bloom with lush, verdant terrain. The protected land is home to a rich variety of wildlife – head out on an early morning game drive to spot elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, kudus, and even rhinos in Ongava.

Most of the Etosha lodges Jacada recommends are in these exclusive areas, granting you privileged access to this carefully conserved land and the precious wildlife that thrives within it. Night drives and nature walks are also on offer, as are day trips to admire the vast Etosha Pan.

A word from one of our experts

Namibia is a fantastic country to visit and Etosha National Park cannot be missed while you’re here. The game viewing is exceptional, the famous watering holes draw large densities of mixed game to the water's edge, creating a Noah’s Arc type image. There’s also plenty of great lodges to choose from and some excellent conservation projects to learn about too.
