Explore the eternal city
Rome, Italy’s capital and largest city, needs little introduction. One of the most historied locations in the world, we can help you discover its incredible past with a luxury private tour of Rome focused around expert guided tours and local insight.
Striking reminders of Rome’s illustrious past, from ancient Roman wonders to Renaissance masterpieces, appear around every corner. Tour the highlights on a vintage car tour, zooming past the Circus Maximus and the Colosseum in style, or delve deeper during your visit to the Vatican with a private tour of the Necropolis beneath St Peter’s Basilica, where the tomb of St Peter himself is located.
Italian cuisine is beloved the world over, and you can taste your way through Rome’s regional delicacies on a private guided food tour by vintage Vespa. Your guide will show you the best local spots for pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) and supplì (fried balls of rice with melting mozzarella at the centre). Top it off with an evening of wine tasting led by a knowledgeable enoteca owner.
To the east of the Tiber, strewn across the Seven Hills, you can explore the districts of Old Rome, with beautiful cathedrals and squares such as the piazzas Navona and Campo de’ Fiori. Coffee in hand, embrace la dolce far niente – the sweetness of doing nothing, sitting back to soak up the atmosphere of the eternal city. When to visit Rome
It’s possible to visit Rome all year round, although the weather may vary greatly between seasons. In the winter months (December to February), Rome is at its quietest, and weather is cool and potentially rainy, ideal for making the most of the city’s many museums. In summer, (June to August), temperatures soar, often averaging 32°C (90°F) – perfect for a cooling gelato, but you should be careful when spending large amounts of time outdoors. The best time to visit Rome is during the shoulder months of March to May and September to November. Day time temperatures hover pleasantly between 15°C–25°C (59°F–77°F), perfect for wandering the city’s historic streets and landmarks, which are less busy than during the peak summer months.
