A fairytale destination full of culture and beautiful scenery

Forested slopes roll down to the still turquoise waters of Lake Lucerne, snow-capped mountains soaring towards the sky in the distance and quaint villages peppering the shoreline.

Like many places in Switzerland, Lake Lucerne is a marriage of the old and the new. Journey back in time as you travel upon its waters on a luxury boat, passing timber houses that dot the banks against a backdrop of craggy peaks.

The city of Lucerne itself is perhaps best known for its iconic Chapel Bridge, a wooden walkway constructed over the water in a style that brings fairtytales to mind. A great stone tower rises from the water, a sentinel over the delicate bridge. Beneath the eaves are intricate paintings, portraying legends and stories of the city and its inhabitants.

Following the twists and turns of this unusually shaped lake is the Swiss Path. It totals around 35km, a unique journey for the hiking enthusiast that takes two to three days to complete. For those that prefer a gentle wander, there are plenty of charming towns and scenic walks along its shoreline.

Whether you sail the lake’s sparkling waters on a bright summer’s day or explore the cobbled streets of the old town in winter, Lucerne is undeniably magical.
