Itinerary in detail
Every trip is shaped around you. Below is a sample route to start from; we change any part of it to suit you.
Days 1-2
A night in Reykjavik
Set among snow-topped mountains and volcanic surrounds, Reykjavik is the energetic gateway city to a land of rugged adventures. As the planet’s most northerly capital, Reykjavik greets you with a crisp, clean Icelandic breeze before charming you with its blend of small village feel and big city passion. Looking out across the sea to glacier views, this little city is split in half by the brilliant waters of Tjornin Lake and brims with highbrow museums, first-class geothermal pools and stylish restaurants.

Where you could stay
Reykjavik food tour

Get a real taste of this city during a foodie tour, where you will walk in and around downtown Reykjavik with a knowledgable local guide, admiring the city’s most beautiful attractions. First and foremost you will of course be exploring Reykjavik’s food scene, and you’ll visit some unique restaurants and enjoy delicious Icelandic cuisine.
Days 3-4
Two nights of wonder in the Golden Circle
Three main attractions form the dazzling Golden Circle: Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur, which contains the geysers Geysir and Strokkur. Covering about 300 km in the South of Iceland, this dazzling route loops from Reykjavik into central Iceland and back and is an integral element of any Iceland tour.

Transfer to Nuup Kangerlua Fjord

You will fly to Nuuk and meet your guide before a transfer to Nuuk harbour for a scenic boat trip through iceberg-filled waters to your luxury camp.
Days 5-7
Two nights in the breathtaking surrounds of Nuup Kangerlua Fjord
Just north of Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, sits the breathtaking surrounds of Nuup Kangerlua Fjord, also known by its colonial name of Gilbert Sound. Ethereal and surreal, here you’ll find vast mountainous islands cradling the meeting point between glistening glacial waters and the deep blue Arctic sea.
You’ll spend an unforgettable few days filled with unparalleled hikes through serene surrounds – upon arrival at the camp, stretch your legs with a short hike to a stunning waterfall, with views of the Kiattua valley.

Where you could stay
A visit to the captial, Nuuk

Enjoy a tour of Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland and the world’s northernmost capital, found on the southwest coast. Visit the harbour – the largest port in Greenland – the main street and the fascinating national museum, one of the first museums established in Greenland. The museum has many archaeological, historical, and artistic artefacts and also has information about Greenland’s many ruins, graveyards, and buildings.
Days 8-9
Spectacularly situated Ilulissat
A picturesque and history-rich town, Ilulissat is spectacularly situated in a bay that harbours thoroughly awe-inspiring icebergs that have broken away from the impressive Jakobshavn glacier, some of which rise more than a hundred metres above sea level.

Where you could stay
En route to Glacier Lodge Eqi

The transportation to and from Glacier Lodge Eqi is by boat, which an excursion by itself. Sail north along the coast in modern and comfortable boats, passing Bredebugt, the settlement of Oqaatsut and the big fiord system called Pakitsoq, where both whales and seals often are seen. Continue further still, through the Ataa Strait, which is surrounded by steep mountains with bird life and waterfalls. The ice secured boats lie approximately 2 hours in front of the glacier and wait for the ice to calve, while a delicious lunch is served.
Days 10-12
The ever-calving Eqi Glacier
Just north of Ilulissat, on the west coast of Greenland, you’ll find the country’s largest and most active glacier: Eqi Glacier, also known by its Greenlandic name of Eqip Sermia.
Emerging through the blanket of tranquillity that surrounds the Eqi Glacier, you’ll hear the thunderous roar as enormous ice sheets crash into the turquoise water below. The awe-inspiring expanse of the glacial ice cap is made from compressed snow, which eventually turns to ice in the extreme arctic temperatures, trapping air bubbles inside. When parts of the glacial front fall, this air is released, causing the exhilarating and explosive sound.

Where you could stay
Hiking from Eqi Glacier Lodge

You can enjoy long and varied hikes through several landscapes, such as fertile lowlands, wind-swept highlands, moraines and last but not least the inland ice with its crevasses, rivers and wells. Venture to the edge of the Delta for amazing views or follow the track made by the French expedition leader Paul-Emile Victor, all the way to the ice cap. During the forties and the beginning of the fifties, this track was used by tracked vehicles carrying supplies for the Icecap expedition. Today you can still find many remains of old machinery and an old cable car.
Iceberg sightseeing beneath the midnight sun

If you’re travelling between May 21 to July 24, take a boat night-time trip between the gigantic icebergs, some of which tower up to 100m above the surface of the water. No matter the weather they are beautiful to see, but their blue shades are best observed when it is cloudy and the midnight sun casts its glow on their forms during the night. The sun creates a unique array of colors across the surfaces of the icebergs, although you’ll need to remember to wrap up warm to enjoy them.
Days 13-14
A final night of luxury in the Blue Lagoon
Finish your epic journey in the comfort of Reykjavik’s Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most stunning natural wonders, located in a vast lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, just a short drive from the capital city.
For a truly unforgettable experience, our experts suggest a stay at the Retreat at Blue Lagoon which offers an unparalleled level of luxury and exclusivity. Nestled beside the lagoon, The Retreat is a five-star hotel and spa that is seamlessly integrated into the landscape. The design of the retreat itself is a masterpiece, combining modern architecture with Iceland’s natural beauty, with elements such as stone walls and geothermal heat incorporated into the structure.
