South Snaefellsnes tour

At Hnappadalur Valley, you’ll stop at Rauðamelsölkelda, which boasts from having a mineral well with delicious drinking water. A nearby beach is famous for its seal colony. The best time to spot the seals is in summertime (June and July), but they can be seen all year round if you’re lucky. Next visit Rauðfeldsgjá ravine, an enormous crack in the mountain wall, and the picturesque Arnarstapi has one of the most interesting beaches in Iceland, full of caves, canyons, holes and cliffs made of columnar basalt, a beautiful reminder of the volcanic energy underneath. Nearby is Hellnar, a tiny village where the bewitching Baðstofa cave is located.

Day 4

Into the Icelandic Highlands

Your next stop sees you arrive in the remote Icelandic Highlands. In this world away from civilisation, in the heart of the Icelandic wilderness, you’ll soak up the peace and quiet.

A trip to the Giljaböð Baths might be the highlight of your time here. This unique experience involves a relaxed walk through remote Icelandic wilderness before soaking in a geothermal pool, nestled in a magnificent highland canyon. Constructed from locally sourced, natural materials like flagstone from the canyon floor, the baths are hot-spring-fed pools, designed to blend into the environment seamlessly using the age-old methods that created Snorralaug – a heritage site pool dating back to the 10th century. This on-site bathhouse is made from salvaged timbers from the area. Even the hooks in the changing room are repurposed horseshoes from a nearby family farm.

Day 5

Touring the Golden Circle

On day four you’ll start to explore the delights of the Golden Circle. You’ll get the chance to swim between two continents, snorkelling in the clear waters of the Silfra fissure that marks the tectonic divide of America and Europe.

During your time here, your guide will also stop in a scenic spot where a private chef will greet you with a delicious already-prepared barbecue lunch. This isn’t just any al fresco meal, however, as a beautiful dining area will also be set up allowing you to stop and soak up the landscapes.

Silfra snorkelling

Silfra snorkelling

Snorkel in some of the clearest water on the planet in Silfra, a tectonic rift valley in Þingvellir National Park, down a narrow canyon in the lava field located between the continents of America and Europe. The water in Silfra is a mixture of groundwater from the surrounding area and meltwater from Langjökull glacier in the highlands. It takes the glacial water decades to filter through the massive lava field before it enters the fissure. This makes the water in Silfra one of the purest and clearest in the world, the underwater visibility, in the heavenly blue water, is normally 70-80 meters, better than anywhere else in the world.

Days 6-7

Adventuring in Southern Iceland

Your tour of Southern Iceland starts aboard a Superjeep and an adventure out to Landmannalaugar, one of Iceland’s hidden national treasures. Endless vistas, dramatic waterfalls and a hot springs oasis await. You’ll also visit to the extraterrestrial cratered terrain that forms the volcanic fissures of Lakagigar, a volcano that nearly destroyed the country in 1783. For an added rush, you’ll also jump on a snowmobile to ride along the Eyjafjallajökull ice cap.
