Botswana Family Safaris made for you
Luxurious, bespoke, private and family-friendly Botswana safaris
Epic and unique Botswana family adventures
Famous for its diverse landscapes, lush wildlife and energetic experiences across the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert, Botswana is the perfect destination for a luxury family safari holiday.
Experts in planning tailored experiences for families travelling to Botswana, Jacada’s Travel Designers consider everything from luxury accommodation to transport, and provide a detailed itinerary including family-friendly activities with local guides.
In a truly versatile Botswana family safari, your family can explore the landscapes and encounter the local wildlife by air, boat or even on foot, as well as experiencing luxury and authentic family-friendly accommodation; including private riverside villas, tented camps, and stellar lodges with kids clubs and special activities.
Although Botswana has become an exclusive and popular family-friendly destination in recent years, it may be more suited to older families, as the choices for young families here are quite limited given the remote locations, age restrictions at the accommodation, and the level of travelling involved with many of its destinations. Nevertheless, we have a great portfolio of options for families travelling with younger children, so speak to our expert Travel Designer for more information.

A word from one of our experts
I love Botswana as a family safari destination - it works so well for older families and young adventurers too. Boat trips on the Delta's waterways, spying crocs in the water or watching massive herds of elephants crossing your path is captivating for everyone. The wildlife in Botswana is staggering, everyday there's countless 'wow' experiences - really special for families to share all this together.

Botswana Travel Guides
Ask our experts
Are there age limits at Botswana safari camps?
Yes, there are age limits at Botswana safari camps, although specific age restrictions can vary between each lodge. Due to their remote and wild locations, as well as age restrictions for game drives, many Botswana safari camps do not accept children under six years old. While some family-friendly camps do allow children of all ages, for others, the minimum age is as high as 12.
What are the best family activities in Botswana?
The best family activities in Botswana include traditional safari game drives as well as other wildlife-based activities, such as seeing meerkats in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Families with older children can also enjoy quad biking across the salt pans, or a traditional mokoro (canoe) ride to spot wildlife in the Okavango Delta.
How many days do I need for a family safari in Botswana?
We typically recommend between 10–14 days for a family safari in Botswana, as this will allow you to explore multiple different destinations within the country in a good amount of depth without feeling rushed. Botswana safari camps offer remote locations with an abundance of wildlife, and several days are needed in each destination in order to fully appreciate what it has to offer.
