A bespoke family trip to Switzerland

Luxury Switzerland family tours through picture-postcard scenery

Your travel designer will plan you the perfect luxury Switzerland family tour, discovering spectacular alpine scenery and multilingual cities. Stay in German-speaking Zurich and notice the cities efficiency and innovation; explore elegant lakeside Lausanne or Geneva to experience French-speaking Switzerland with café culture and beautiful parks; and while away sunny days in Ticino’s Lugano with its palm tree-lined piazzas and Italian echoing off pastel buildings.

In Lucerne, with its medieval old town and Chapel Bridge (the oldest wooden bridge in Europe), visit the Swiss Museum of Transport and spend summer afternoons swimming from the beaches of Lake Lucerne, and in the car-free alpine village of Zermatt in South Western Switzerland – dominated by the Matterhorn – you can snow activites in winter, or hike and cycle around the lakes of Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee in spring and summer.

One of the best ways to explore Switzerland with your family is by rail, and there are some phenomenal luxury Switzerland train tours to tie into your trip. Alpine vistas unfold through panoramic windows on the Bernina Express, the Gornergrat railway, the GoldenPass train and the Glacier Express, as trains weave through impossible mountain terrain, traversing tunnels and crossing spectacular viaducts.

Where to go in Switzerland

When to visit Switzerland

Switzerland rewards visitors year-round. Winter (December–February) brings reliable snow at higher altitudes for skiing and snowshoeing, though lower valleys may stay surprisingly green. Spring and summer transform the landscape and alpine meadows with wildflowers, and even July feels pleasantly cool in mountain areas. Autumn ignites the trees in gold and amber, but sees far fewer crowds.
